Before you get started

What your will does

A will records who should receive your money, property and belongings after you pass away. You name an executor to carry out your wishes.

Signing in Singapore

You need to print and sign your will with two witnesses. Preparing a draft online is only the first step.

Choose your people

  • Name your beneficiaries

The people who will inherit. Have their full legal names ready and decide what each should receive.

  • Appoint an executor

Choose someone to carry out your wishes and ask whether they are willing. Consider a backup executor too.

  • Consider a guardian

If you have minor children, think about who you would want to care for them and get professional advice.

Know what you’re leaving

  • List your assets and debts

Include your main property, savings and belongings, along with any outstanding debts.

  • Decide how to divide your estate

Choose gifts or shares for your beneficiaries and consider who should inherit if someone cannot.

  • Check your CPF nomination separately

CPF savings are not distributed through your will.

Plan to sign and store it

  • Arrange two eligible witnesses

They will need to witness your signature together and sign in your presence. Avoid beneficiaries and their spouses.

  • Review, print and sign

Check every name and gift, then follow the signing instructions with your witnesses.

  • Keep the signed original safe

Tell your executor where to find it. You can upload a copy to your Timeliss case.
